Moving On

Moving on

is moving off

this plot of land

we've stuck to.

This square of space we bunkered down in

during battles.

It made such sense then

to get trenched in

and dig in our boots,

get to know this dirt.

But now it seems

the wisdom leans

toward shuffling off

before we get hurt.
